Today, as in World War I, opponents of violence work across the divides created by their governments. The internet is in some cases making this easier. A group of Israelis who oppose war with Iran have set up the Facebook page Israel-Loves-Iran (https://www.facebook.com/israellovesiran?fref=ts). Their allies in Iran have responded with Iran-Loves-Israel (https://www.facebook.com/IranlovesIsrael.OfficialPage?fref=ts).  The two groups declare that they will not go to war with each other, whatever their governments do in their name.

John's last year at boarding school in Repton was a time of “terrible isolation” due to his pacifist convictions. John said that one of the influences that had pushed him towards pacifism was the writings of the former headmaster, the theologian William Temple.
